Die Hard 4.0 was great fun to watch … but the Stuxnet worm shown us that this could be more than just great fiction. The Stuxnet worm was an ultra-sophisticated computer worm credited with taking down centrifuges critical to Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons program.
Jim Lewis, a director of the Technology and Public Policy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., said something like Stuxnet could for example be used to spin electrical generators out of control.
He also said “The Department of Homeland Security has done reviews of a few critical infrastructure companies, and every one has had vulnerabilities,”
